John L. Sullivan, age 90, of Hart, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born May 31, 1930 in Shelby to Henry and Lavina (Stewart) Sullivan.
John was raised in Shelby. He married Lois (Schimke) on December 26, 1951. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. After his military service, he attended Muskegon Junior College and the University of Michigan, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
John worked for the American Motor Corporation and lived in Livonia before returning to Oceana County to live in Hart. He was employed at Johnson Products in Muskegon for twenty-two years before his retirement. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Hart and the Gideon Bible Society. He enjoyed hunting, antique autos and camping.
John is survived by his wife, Lois; his son, Mark (Maryann) Sullivan; daughter, Colleen (Daniel) Riley; grandchildren, Sara (Grant) Boring, David (Sarah) Riley, Anne Riley and Andrew Riley; and great-grandchildren, Landon Boring, Addison Riley, Gracie Boring, Gage Riley, Gavin Boring, Liv Riley and Emma Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Mack, Raymond, Herbert, Leroy and Robert Sullivan.
Visitation for John will be held Monday, May 17th, 12:30 until the funeral service at 1 pm at First Baptist Church in Hart. A coffee and cake reception will follow. Interment will be in Pentwater Township Cemetery. Please consider either the Gideons Bible Society, P.O. Box 172, Pentwater, MI 49449 or Oceana County Council on Aging, 4250 W. Tyler Road, Hart, MI 49420 as a memorial.
