John A. McDonald II, age 70, of Ferry Township, passed away December 31, 2019 in Whitehall.  He was born February 22, 1949 in Hart, the son of Matthew and Louise (Eppward) McDonald.  John lived in Hart until the age of four when he moved to Muskegon.  He returned to Oceana County, to Ferry, upon marrying Edna  Brown on July 11, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; his son, Ron McDonald; daughter, Jennifer (Rob) Flanery; grandchildren, Mason Flanery, Brandon Flanery,  Morgan Flanery and Amanda Bixby; great-granddaughter, Raven Moon; brother, Ronald (Lillian) McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret McDonald.

Visitation is Friday, January 3rd, 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4th, 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Paul Hane officiating.  Interment will be in Ferry Township Cemetery in the spring.  Memorials for family expenses or the Crystal Valley Care Fund, P.O.
