Janyce L. Wiersema, age 83, passed away June 18, 2019.  She was born April 26, 1936 in Grand Rapids to Roland and Jeanette Van Valkenburg.  She was a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School and Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She married John T. Wiersema on February 21, 1958.  They made their home in New Era.  John passed away on June 19, 2014.

Jan was an active member of New Era Christian Reformed Church where she was an organist for twenty-five years.  She worked as a registered nurse at Shelby Hospital for thirty-seven years and Shelby Family Care for five years.

She loved her family.  She and John spent a lot of time with their grandchildren, camping, traveling and on special outings.

She is survived by her children, Robin Harper, Jeff and Linda Wiersema and Aime and Steve Deem; her grandchildren, John and Samantha Harper, Alyssa Harper, Riley, Sophie, Sadie, Audrey and Dylan Deem and Lance Zaverl; great-grandchildren, Carmen Dault,  Dakota Harper and Hunter Zaverl; and her sister, Joy (Dale) Reidsma.  She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dawn Lynn, her parents, two brothers, Roger Alan and Ronald Jack Van Valkenburg.

Visitation is Monday, June 24th, 4-7 pm at New Era Christian Reformed Church. The service of celebration of God's faithfulness in Jan's life will be held Tuesday, June 25th, 11 am at New Era Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jacob Weeda and Rev.
