Janet L. Bahr, age 79, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Muskegon. She was born June 1, 1936 in Pontiac, Michigan to William and Frances (Payne) Hansen.

Janet married Marshall Bahr on July 2, 1957. She graduated from Hackley School of Nursing that year and worked in the Hackley Hospital ER for many years. She also worked with Muskegon Surgical Associates, where she retired after thirty-five years in nursing. Janet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She lived in Whitehall many years before moving to the family farm in Shelby in 1988.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall; her children, Marshall Bahr of Muskegon, Michelle (Catherine) Bahr-Guinon of Ada and Keenan (Gail) Bahr of Muskegon; grandchildren, Khelsea Bahr of Muskegon, Mariah Bahr of Muskegon, Sharea (Brian) Melton-Reasonover of Muskegon and Kenneth (Jessica) Melton of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jhalen Melton and Jabrea Melton both of Muskegon, Samaria Panell and Kenneth Melton both of Austin; and her brothers, Ron (Theresa) Hansen of N. Muskegon, Chuck (Etta) Hansen of Redwood City, California and Larry (Barb) Hansen of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Maurene Bahr.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8th, 4-7 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby and also on Wednesday March 9th at 12 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm at the church.
