James E. Johnson, age 77 of Mears, MI, passed away comfortably at home on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born August 28, 1943 in Allegan, MI.  Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy 1962-1967.  He enjoyed visiting with people, playing cards, hunting and fishing.  He always had a smile and a kind word and was ready to help anyone in need.  His favorite pastime was watching the birds and squirrels with his little dog Toby in his lap.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Arnold, step-children, Rebecca (Budd) Greenman, James (Jamie) Tootle, Sam (Viola) Tootle, grandchildren Lauren, Sean and TJ and 2 sisters, Karen Guistra (Brunswick, ME) and Ruth  Ann Clayton (Paw Paw, MI) and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 17th at 5:15 p.m. at  St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Hart, Michigan.  Interment will follow at Ferry Township Cemetery.
