Obituary

Jacquelyn Jean Kolbe, 93, formerly of Walkerville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026.  She was born July 13, 1932, in Elbridge Township, the daughter of Harry and Beatrice (Shafer) Monroe.


Jackie, as most everyone knew her, lived the majority of her life around Walkerville, but also loved to travel the United States. She enjoyed difficult crossword puzzles, and was always ready to play a game of Euchre.  An accomplished quilter and crocheter, Jackie was also an excellent baker.


Jackie is survived by: her children, Richard (Marie) Kolbe of Walkerville, Charles Kolbe of White Lake and Susan Kolbe of Savage, Minnesota; granddaughters Kim Kolbe of Kalamazoo, Brenda (Cory) Metcalfe of Osceola, Indiana and Tarie Kolbe of Walker; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jackie was preceded in death by:  her parents, Harry and Beatrice; husband, Martin "Mike" Kolbe; brothers, Louis and Harvey Monroe; sisters, LaVerne Chase and Shirley Hutchins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Harris Funeral Home, 267 North Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455, with Pastor David Pratt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of services at Harris Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery, 8699 Loop Road, Hesperia, Michigan 49421. A luncheon will be provided at the Hesperia American Legion Post, 4075 South 198th Avenue, Hesperia, Michigan 49421.
