Hazel Marie Payne, 90, of Hart, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026. She was born June 10, 1936 in Muskegon, the daughter of Arnold and Nancy (Shuitema) Buikema.

Hazel is survived by: her sons, Kirk (Sandra) Payne and Kevin Payne; grandchildren, Justin Payne, Christopher (Jennifer) Payne, Katie (David) Lathrop, Mitchell Payne and Alexander Payne; great-grandchildren, Conner Lathrop, Alexis Lathrop, Bryce Payne, Alaina Payne and Aiden Payne; sisters, Jeane (Thomas) Thorburn and Eunice Morris.

Hazel was preceded in death by: her parents Arnold and Nancy; husband, Scott; sister, Carol VanDop, twin sister Helen Howe; brothers, Karl Buikema, David Buikema, Paul Buikema and Doug Buikema,

Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Elbridge Cemetery, 2200 N. 136th Avenue, Hart, Michigan 49420, with Pastor Bob Abbott officiating.

Harris Funeral Home, in Shelby, is in charge of arrangements.
