George Henry Vest, 73, of Walkerville, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by all of his loving family. He was born November 16, 1952, in Madison, Indiana, the son of Porter and Sara (Ballard) Vest.

George was well respected and loved in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or give advice. He served on Merrill township fire department for several years, volunteered for several community projects, and served his community in many ways.

George is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Janice (Burns) Vest; daughter, Megan (Mike) Oomen; grandchildren, Remington Oomen, Hendrick Oomen, Anabel Oomen; special niece. Elaina Avilla; adopted grandson, Michael (Grace) Lowery; great granddaughter, Charlotte Lowery; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by: his parents, Porter and Sara Vest; his son, Eugene Vest, many siblings, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place; a going home celebration will be held at a later date.
