June 11, 1930 – August 29, 2020
George H. Davis, age 90, of Montague, passed away early Saturday, August 29, 2020 at White Lake Assisted Living where he had been residing the past two years. George was born June 11, 1930 in Washington, DC, the son of Harvey and Gladys (Jeffrey) Davis.
He was raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He moved to the Detroit area and was employed as a draftsman for Chrysler Corporation for many years. He was an active supporter of civil rights. George married Helen Boag on August 8, 1959. She passed away in 2005. George was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was worth listening to. He loved jazz, camping, reading and cats. He was a generous man of deep faith whose ministry of cards and letters touched the lives of many. He was a member of Rothbury Community Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Ruth (Tom) Carson, Beth (Jerry) Kroll and Martha Alexander; five grandchildren, Ian Carson, Thomas (Christa) Carson, Joel (Adrienne) Kroll, Kati (Phil) McAfee and Emily Kroll; and great-grandchildren, James Kroll and Emmett Kroll. Besides his wife, Helen, George was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, David Alexander.
Private family services will be held due to COVID restrictions and interment will be in Royal Oak, Michigan. Please consider African Bible Colleges, PO Box 103, Clinton, MS 39060 as a memorial.
