Fred C. Dahl, age 81, of Shelby, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 in Shelby.  He was born July 22, 1939 in Charlevoix, the  son of Wilbert C. Dahl and Olive A. (Haralson) Dahl.

Fred was raised in Muskegon before moving to Shelby and graduating from Shelby High School.  He enlisted in  the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1957 to 1959. Fred was a Michigan State Police Trooper for twenty-three years.  He served at posts in New Buffalo, St. Ignace and retired in 1984 from the Ionia post.  He then served as magistrate and probation officer for Ionia County.  Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling with his fifth wheel trailer following retirement.  He lived in Shelby for over twenty years.

He is survived by his son, Darin Dahl; granddaughters, Veronyka Dahl and McKenzie Dahl; his siblings, Dorothy Rose, Judy Rowley, Richard Dahl and Diane Zoulek; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Bill Dahl, Robert Dahl, Ronald Dahl and Shirley Williams.

At his request, there will be no services for Fred.
