Fay M. Townsend, age 78, of Montague, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.  Fay was born February 17, 1943 in Bessemer, Michigan to Charles and Lorraine (Kevari) Ayotte. She lived in Ironwood until the age of five when she moved to Ann Arbor.

She married Ray "Tom" Townsend on October 26, 1963.  They moved to Montague in 1973.  Fay was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and enjoyed being in the quilting group at church.  She also enjoyed being with family and hunting and fishing with her husband.  Tom passed away in 2015.

She is survived by her sister, Patty Stemp; her grandchildren, Jamie (Joe) McQuillin, Gage Hans and Jada Hans (and her fiancé, Braxton Kemerly); and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband, Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Thomas,  infant daughter, Shawn Marie, and her sister, Charlene Potter.

Visitation for Fay will be held Wednesday, July 14th, 10 am until the funeral at 11 am, both at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. John Brooks officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague.  Please consider St. James Lutheran Church, 8945 Stebbins Street, Montague, MI  49437 as a memorial.
