Donald LaVern Frees, 91, of Hesperia, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 16, 2022, at his home. He was born August 28, 1930, in Ferry Township, to LaVern and Dorothy (Forbear) Frees.

Donald worked many years at Howmet Aerospace, formerly known as Misco. He left Misco to become a mechanic and sell used cars. Later on, Donald went to work for Schamber Tractor Sales before enjoying a short retirement. He then went to work at Country Acres Pool & Spa until he retired at the age of 84.

Donald had many hobbies, including snowmobiling, hunting, camping, and singing with his family.

Donald is survived by: his loving wife of 67 years, Edna (Smith) Frees; children, David Frees, Cindy (Hank) Edsall, and Cheryl Mosher; daughter-in-law, Janet Frees; grandchildren, Aaron (Laura) Frees, Mark (Megan) Frees, Kerri (Shawn) Knop, Brad (Lacy) Mosher, Joni (Bryan) Lear, and Amanda (Sean), April, and Derek Edsall; great-grandchildren, Ashyln, Tugg, Gentry, Kyler, Keegan, Jordan, Abby, Lane, Kori, Jada, and Nia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Steven Frees; and sister, Marjorie (George) Babinec.

Memorial services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Ferry Community Center, 3416 Green Street, Shelby, MI, 49455, with a luncheon to follow. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the Ferry Community Center.
