Obituary

Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Roquemore, 72, of Hart, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was born December 15,1949, in Hart, the daughter of Rufus and Mary Francis Stahl.

Cheryl was a graduate of Hart High School in 1968, and attended Olivetti Nazarene College, with a mind toward music education, although she did not graduate.

Cheryl was a devoted mother, who was blessed to be able to stay at home with her children, supplementing the family income through occasional part-time work, although she most often ran daycare out of her home.

Cheryl was a strong believer, who followed after her Savior's heart, and shared his love with all she met. She was known to wander her home at night, praying over her family, country, and friends. Cheryl stayed active in ministry at the churches she attended, in her youth as a worship leader, but most commonly involved in intercessory prayer.

Her love and compassion for her family and friends was often expressed through food. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and if you were in her home for more than half an hour, she most likely fed you.

Cheryl was a tireless mother, who opened her home to foster children. She loved them as her own, even when she often knew they were going to be sent back into heartbreaking situation that would break her heart. Cheryl still gave them every ounce of love she could in whatever time she had with them. Two were legally adopted, and more remain a part of the family even 25+ years after fostering ended, having been adopted into her heart. She was also considered a second "Mom" to many of her children's friends and kids in the neighborhood. The Roquemore house was never a quiet place.

Cheryl is survived by: her husband of 52 years, James L. Roquemore; their children, James L. Roquemore Jr (Diane), Mary-Lyn J Dodds (Delano), Stephanie M Beauleau, C. Michael Griffith (Amy), Katherine M Varenhorst (Gerrett), and Sarah N Roquemore; and her grandchildren, James L Roquemore III, Dylan J Varenhorst, Dakoda J Varenhorst, Tristan Griffith, and Lincoln Griffith.

Cheryl was preceded in death by: her parents, Rufus D Stahl (1929-2005) and Mary Frances (Rowan) Stahl (1933-1968); brother, Daniel Lee Stahl (1951-1972); and son John Bradley Stahl (1970).
