Zora Kompik, 93, Pentwater, passed into the presence of Her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Zora was raised in Pentwater and graduated from Pentwater High School. She married Edward Kompik, also of Pentwater, December 24, 1943. He passed away October 6, 2008.
Zora was an active member of Pentwater Baptist Church. She was involved in and led numerous Bible Studies as well as youth ministries. She worked as a Nurses Aid at the (then) newly formed Oceana Medical Care Facility in Hart. She and her husband went on to operate an adult foster care in their Pentwater home for 20 years. Zora had a servant’s heart for her family and community. Though quiet, she lived her life boldly and confidently according to 2 Timothy 1:12, “I know whom I have believed and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”
Mrs. Kompik is survived by her children: Edward (Barbara Ackley) Kompik, of Mentor, Ohio, Debra (James) Young of Pentwater, Pamela (Jared) Griffis of Pentwater and Dale (Barbara Sothman) Kompik of Pentwater, and fourteen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren
Zora was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sisters Zetta Schaner, Marva Freese Ryder, her brother Royce Blount, her daughter, Diana King and her grandson, Dale Kompik, Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 18th at 12 noon, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Pentwater Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Lillie officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pentwater Baptist Church Summer Project or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
