Shontell Fulford

Shontell Fulford, age 35, of Walkerville, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 following a six month battle with cancer.  She was born November 7, 1981 in Houston, Texas.

Shontell lived in Louisiana until the age of twelve when she moved to Walkerville with her family.  She graduated from Walkerville High School and attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.  She was employed at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart as a Certfied Nurses Assistant. 

Shontell was “one of a kind”! She was head strong but loving, with a sense of fairness like no one else ever possessed.  She felt everyone was equal and should be treated well. 

Shontell was a loving mother.  She loved to listen to music and taught her kids to dance as soon as they could walk.  She loved to be with those she loved.  She was very spiritual and had a strong faith in God.   Shontell had beaten death twice and believed she would beat her terminal diagnosis too.  It was not to be, and she left us last Wednesday.

She is survived by her children, Phoenix Fulford and Onyx Fulford; her mother, Cathy Thommen; her sister, Amber (Bob) Masta; her brother, Joel Scott Fulford; many close friends; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles.  Shontell was preceded in death by her father, John F. Thommen.

A service will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 3 pm at her mother’s home, 9483 W. Twelve Mile Road, Walkerville.   You may leave a message for the family at www.harrisfhome.com.  Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.
