Roger J. Morse

Roger J. Morse, age 90, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart.  He was born July 9, 1928 in Muskegon, the son of William and Mabel (Goodenrath) Morse.  Roger was raised by Herman and Viola Ladegast in Benona Township.  He was a life resident of Oceana County.  He married Ann E. Near on June 29, 1957.  She passed away on March 27, 1987.  He married Caroline "Kelly" (Stembol) Hansen on April 20, 1991.  She preceded him in death on February 22, 2005.

Roger was a self-employed carpenter before his retirement.  All of his sons worked with him at one time or another.  He enjoyed intarsia (making intricate wood pieces into decorations).  He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.  He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne (Marilyn) Morse and Andrew J. (Eva) Morse; his grandchildren, Andy D. (Tara) Morse, Sarah (Caleb) Coulter, Brooke Morse (and her fiancé, Hayden Simpson) and Kasey Morse; great-grandchildren, Alissa Coulter, Cassidy Coulter, Adalynn Morse, Avery Morse and Blake Morse; his brother, Bill (Bev) Morse; and sisters, Joan (Jim) Deters and Judi (Loren) Schultz; and stepchildren, Rev. Gary (June) Hansen and Sally (Gordon) Diepen.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kendra Morse, grandson, Michael Morse, brothers, Howard and Lawrence Morse and his sister, Ruth Nordstrom.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 8th,  1 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby.  Please consider memorials to either the Oceana County Medical Care Facility, 701 E.
