Roberto Vela

Roberto Vela, age 55, of New Era, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at home.  He was born May 20, 1962 in Shelby to Jose and Luisa (Lopez) Vela. Roberto was raised in New Era and was a 1980 graduate of Shelby High School.  He was a beloved brother and dad.  Roberto was employed at Howmet Corporation for over thirty years.  He enjoyed tinkering with cars.

He is survived by his son, Robert Vela; his siblings, Anita Alviar, Jose (Lottie) Vela, Jr., Carolina Vela, Alejos (Sally) Vela, Virginia Vela, Eliaz Vela, and Josie Rose; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Arturo and Raymond Vela.

Visitation is Monday, October 2nd, 4  to 7 pm with  a Rosary Service at 6:30 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.  The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 3rd, 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1372 South Oceana Drive, Shelby with Father Thomas Bolster as Celebrant.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby followed by a luncheon at the church.
