Robert B. "Bob" Ego, age 68, of Hart, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at home. He was born January 6, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Everett and Polly (Milligan) Ego. Bob lived in Baton Rouge before coming to Shelby at the age of 1 1/2. He moved to Elbridge as a child and graduated from Hart High School in 1968.
Bob entered the U.S. Army in August of 1969 and served at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and in Washington, D.C. He attended Western Michigan University and received his bachelor's degree. Bob was a computer programmer and was employed at Howmet Corporation for nineteen years. He also worked at Amway and as a real estate sales broker. He lived in Elbridge before taking a job transfer when he moved to Sparta. Bob and his wife, Carolyn, spent many weekends at the family property in Elbridge. They moved back to Elbridge full-time, three years ago. Bob loved his animals and music. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Dawn Ego, Rhonda (Tim) Sprague, Michael (Manuela) Ego and Janice Towns; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Robert) Woodring, Wanda Main and Allen (Carole) Ego; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Waddell; and grandson, Robbie Ego.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13th, 5-8 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby and on Wednesday, March 14th, at 2 pm with the funeral to follow at 3 pm at Ferry Wesleyan Church. Pastor Jeff Hubbard will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials may be directed to Ferry Wesleyan Church, 2121 E.
