Richard J. Dusseau

Richard J. Dusseau, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 18th.  He was born in Monroe, MI to Wayne and Gladys (Rowe) Dusseau.  He graduated from Adrian College where he was a member of the football, wrestling and track teams.  He taught high school and also was a well-known football coach.  He started his coaching career while student teaching at Hudson, moving to Milan, Chelsea, Blissfield, Webberville, Shelby, Mason County Central and Montague.  He was inducted into the MHSFCA Hall of Fame in 1987.  He also had the privilege of coaching his three children.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn (Knapp) of 56 years; children Lonnie of Elk Rapids; Michelle (Keith) Vliem of Wilmington, NC; Lance (Melanee) of Dorr; and two grand daughters, Courtney and Kelsey Dusseau. He is also survived by various in-laws, Carol (Gary) Miskerik, Marion (Neil) Early, Fran (Jack) Arnholt, Michael (Nancy) Braun, Jack (Georgianna) Braun, Gary Braun and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend Duane Kaiser. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and parents.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 22nd from 2 pm - 7 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby, MI and the Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 23rd at 11 am at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 150 W. Church Road, Twin Lake with visitation one hour before the service.  Memorials to Muskegon Conservation District Education Center or Victorian Garden (Phoenix Continuum) are appreciated.
