Percy F. Skinner, age 102, of Shelby, went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 5, 2018 in Muskegon. He was born June 17, 1916 in Ferry Township to Frank and Elsie (Green) Skinner.
Percy lived in Rothbury many years. He married Beatrice Rickert on June 29, 1940. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2006. He attended Rothbury Community Church.
Percy was employed at Lakey Foundry in Muskegon and also at Wolverine Foundry in Grand Rapids and other shops as a pattern maker. He retired at the age of sixty-two and made patterns in his own shop for eighteen more years for Northland Castings of Hart. He learned to fly in 1943. He was a pilot for forty-seven years and took his last flight at age 100.
Besides his parents and his wife, Percy was preceded in death by his son, Paul Skinner in 1986 and his daughter, Linda Tietz in 2015. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gladden Skinner, Nedra Benham, Aletha "Lee" Wright, Lila Kidder, Carol Hatton, Wayne Skinner, and Neil Skinner.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Jillian Skinner; great-grandson, Brendan; brothers, Larry (Rita) Skinner and Frank "Mike" (Bernice) Skinner; sisters, Ruth (Roger) Koster and Esther Vannett; stepgrandchildren, Wendy (Gary) Troost, Meri Dewitt, Marv (Monica) Dewitt and Holly Medenblik; and many stepgreat-grandchildren.
The memorial service for Mr. Skinner will be held Thursday, November 8th, 3 pm at Rothbury Community Church with Pastor Brian Wolff officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rothbury. Please consider Rothbury Community Church, 2500 W. Winston Road, Rothbury, MI 49452 as a memorial.
