Monte Mitteer

Monte Mitteer age 73, of Whitehall and formerly of New Era and White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017.  He was born February 2, 1944 in Shelby to James Mitteer and Thelma Smith Mitteer.

Monte's first job was at the age of sixteen when he left home to become a carnival worker for two years.  Later, he was a truck driver for Herin Brothers, an excavator,  and owned and operated  a fruit farm with his wife, Joyce  near New Era for many years.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 1994.  His second wife, Gayla also preceded him in death.  

He is survived by his sister, Jean (Ken) Near; brothers, Lonnie (Roberta) Conroy and Rex (Shirley) Conroy; special friend, Mary Fishel; and many nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Vaughn Conroy and mother, Thelma Conroy.  

Visitation is Tuesday, September 12th, 10 am at Shelby Road Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow Tuesday, 11 am also at the church.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby.  Please consider either Harbor Hospice, Shelby Road Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society as a memorial.
