Michael D. Carrigan

Michael D. Carrigan, age 69, of Shelby, Michigan went to be with his Lord, Jesus on Friday, November 9, 2018.  He was born July 30, 1949 in Covington, Kentucky to Russell and Ada (Florka) Carrigan.  Michael was raised in Burlington, Kentucky.  He graduated from Cumberland College with a Bachelor's degree in biology and geology in Corbin, Kentucky.  After graduating, he served in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1973 to 1979.  Following his military service, Mike was a pilot with American Airlines for twenty years.  He married Sandra Gremo on November 10, 1990.  He and Sandra and their combined seven children lived in various places during his career with the airline, including Illinois, Indiana, Utah, Tennessee and Michigan.  He was raised in the Baptist Church and attended Shelby Road Baptist Church upon moving to Shelby two years ago.  He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed wood working, plumbing, electrical, and fixing up old cars.  Mike also loved to camp, hike, and walk the "best dog there ever was", Mr. Conner, and if you ever asked how he was he would reply, "fine as frogs hair".

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children, Amy (Miles) Romney of Tallahassee, Florida, Bonnie Carrigan of Shelby, Michigan, John Carrigan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Casey (Peter) Shull of Riverton, Utah, Joseph (Kyla) Carrigan of North Ogden, Utah, Daniel Carrigan of Los Angeles, California, and James (Sara) Carrigan of Draper, Utah; grandchildren, Ava, Dylan, Tanith and Shepard Romney, Kristina Martin, Melissa Riseling, and Eleanor Shull, and Grayson and Gavin Carrigan; his sister, Barbara Carrigan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward (Sue) Gremo, John (Amanda) Gremo,  Marsha Schneider, Linda Evans and Christina Gremo; nieces and nephews, Shawn (Heather) Carrigan and their son, Ace, David Carrigan, Lily Gremo, Rachelle (Laddy) Aldridge, John Gremo, Sarah Gremo, Edward Gremo III, Carl Schneider and Stephanie Schneider.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Matthew Romney; brother, Meredith Carrigan and wife, Freda; and nephew, Scott Carrigan.  

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 16th, 7 pm at Shelby Road Baptist Church. Military honors will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for family expenses are appreciated. You may send them to Harris Funeral Home, 267 N.
