Mary Moore Obituary

Mary Imelda Kelsey Moore was born at home in Hart, Michigan on March 29, 1949.  She was the second youngest out of eleven siblings.

She was a full-blooded native American - proud member of The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.  She enjoyed all things tied to her culture.

In her younger years, she enjoyed music and dancing, loved to dress up and curl her hair.  She found the love of her life, Robert George Moore, Sr.  He too loved dancing and playing guitar.  They would marry on March 3, 1967.  They had lived in Montague with their oldest two children and had gone on to Pentwater for a short time, to finally settle in Ferry to raise their two youngest daughters.

Mary very much enjoyed the outdoors, being in the garden tending vegetables, to hanging laundry out on the line.  She enjoyed fishing, cooking and reading.  Most of all she loved having company, family and friends to visit.

Her husband Robert was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  She stayed home to care for him and see him through to the end of his battle in October 2004.

What will be remembered most of all about Mary was her smile.  Her even calm tone in her voice, always positive and trying her best.  Her tender, loving heart and soul are forever at peace.

Mary is survived by her children, Alice Peoples, Robert G. Moore, Jr., Monica Aguilar and Marie (Dietrich) Scheerer; grandchildren, Michael Blanchette, Terry Blanchette, Brett Peoples, Arlyse Hambright, Aaron Peoples, James Moore, Melissa Peoples, Samantha Cody, Brent Worth, Brianna Tingay and Blake Scheerer; great-grandchildren, Mia Peoples, Jose Quintero III, Cayden Hambright, Molly Hambright, Marisol Peoples and Ethan Quintero; her brother, Norbert (Donita) Kelsey; and sister, Lillian (Luis) Rodriguez.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, John and Augusta (Peters) Kelsey; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Moore; grandson, Christian Diaz; and siblings, Benedict, Franklin, Joe, John Jr., and Gregory Kelsey, Alice and Elaine Rivera and Evelyn Kelsey.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 5-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, 11 am at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.  Interment will be in Ferry Township Cemetery in the spring.  Memorials for family expenses are appreciated.
