Marshall Bahr, Jr., age 85, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. He was born August 12, 1933 in Manistee, the son of Marshall and Mary E. (Abele) Bahr.
Marshall was raised in Brown Township and graduated from Onekema High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he moved to Muskegon and was employed at Consumers Power B.C. Cobb Steam Generating Plant. He was a mechanical maintenance shift supervisor and retired after working at the Cobb Plant for thirty-three years.
Marshall married Janet Hansen on July 2, 1957. She passed away on March 3, 2016. They lived in Whitehall for many years before moving to the Shelby area in 1988. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing for pike on Stony Lake.
Marshall is survived by his children, Marshall Bahr of Muskegon, Michelle (Catherine) Bahr-Guinon of Ada and Keenan (Gail) Bahr of Muskegon; grandchildren, Khelsea Bahr, Mariah Bahr and Sharea Melton, all of Muskegon and Kenneth Melton of Austin Texas; and great-grandchildren, Jhalen and Jabrea Melton of Muskegon, and Samaria Panell and Kenneth Melton of Austin, Texas. Besides his wife, Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Maurene Bahr and his siblings, Larry (Lois surviving) Bahr, Angie (Darwin) Lagerquist, Betty (Bill) McMullen and Billy Bahr.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 30th, 10 am until the funeral at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stony Lake Road (west of New Era) with Pastor Sarah Samuelson officiating. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 5631 W. Stony Lake Road, New Era, MI 49446 are appreciated.
