Lavonne Gebhart, age 83, of Hart, passed away Sunday morning, June 17, 2018 at her home. She was born August 29, 1934 in Benona Township to Harvey Ego and Winifred (Burmeister) Ego. Lavonne married Gale Gebhart on June 18, 1955. She worked at Misco Corporation before being employed at Lakeshore Community Hospital in Shelby for 32 years, first in the dietary department and later in the admitting office until her retirement. She also worked with her husband on the family owned Valley Queen Fruit Farms during her time at the hospital and after. Lavonne enjoyed children, knitting, crocheting, reading, square dancing, polka and ceramics.
Lavonne is survived by her husband, Gale; her children, Connie Bruce, Debra (Barry) Rutlidge and Tamra (John DuBois) Gebhart; her grandchildren, Trenton (Amanda Sewell) Bruce, Deanna Rutlidge, Bradley Rutlidge, Seth Stever and Tyler Stever; her sister, Marilyn Carpenter; sister-in-law, Darlene England; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen Gebhart; son-in-law, Steve Bruce; granddaughter, Jessica Bruce; brothers, Robert (Hazel) Ego, Gerald (Ginny) Ego, Everett (Polly) Ego and Max Ego; sisters, Shirley (Spike) Cleveland, Phyllis (Curtis) Steen, Kathryn (Art) Cramer and Sarah Wellman; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernon and Flossie Gebhart, George England and Harry Carpenter.
Visitation is Sunday, June 24th, 6-8 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 25th, 11 am at Shelby Congregational Church with Rev. Daniel Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery.
