John D. Graham, age 91, of Montague, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at home. He was born September 2, 1926 in Muskegon, the son of William and Ruth (Woods) Graham. He was married to Carol (Aebig) Graham who preceded him in death. John later married Mary (England) Graham. He was employed as an auto mechanic before his retirement and owned a service garage near Montague.
John attended White Lake Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the Philippines and in the Occupation Army in Japan. He was a lifetime member of the White Lake V.F.W. and was Past Commander. He also served as Post Service Officer for twenty years. John enjoyed hunting out west and in the Upper Peninsula. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
John is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Jean (Dean) Rockwell and Patty (Robert) Wessels; his grandchildren, Kevin Wessels and Natalie Wessels; five stepgrandchildren; and his sisters, Lucille (Richard) Nienhouse, Janet (Amos) Huls, Joann (John) Parsons and Bonnie Stillson. Besides his first wife, Carol, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, David and Kenneth Graham and his sister, Helen Graham Reed.
Visitation is Sunday, May 20th, 4-7 pm at White Lake Baptist Church, 5280 Dowling Street in Montague. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 21st, 1 pm at the church with Pastor Nathan Sabin officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Flower Creek Cemetery, 8750 S. 44th Avenue, Montague. Memorials for breast cancer research are appreciated.
