Janice Kay Timmer

Janice K. Timmer, age 78 of New Era, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 in Muskegon.  She was born November 1, 1939 in Shelby to Donald and Bonnie (Morris) Henrickson.

Janice was raised in New Era and graduated from Shelby High School in 1957 along with her future husband, Howard.  They were married on January 15, 1960.  She was employed at New Era Elementary School as a secretary before becoming a licensed practical nurse.  Janice was employed at Muskegon General Hospital, Mercy Hospital and retired from Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana.  

Janice was a long-time member of New Era Christian Reformed Church.  She was an avid quilter.  She loved gardening, the sunshine, loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to shop.  

She is survived by her husband, Howard; her children, Steve (Margie) Timmer and Sheryl (Dan) Durga; her grandchildren, Michael (Kaitlyn) Timmer, Nicholas Timmer, Justin (Katie) Durga, Jordan (Sara) Durga, Jamie (Branon) Brady, Joshua (Erin) Wallace and Jenny (Donovan) Ledder; great-grandchildren, Giuliana Timmer, Michael Timmer, Jr., Carson Durga, Bella Rae Durga, Ana James Brady, Trinity Hope Brady, Major Wallace, Manning Wallace and Brantley Ledder; her sister, Paula (David) Jaunese; sister-in-law, Dee Henrickson; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Timmer and her brother, Terry Henrickson. 

Visitation is Friday, February 23rd, Twelve Noon with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm at New Era Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Greg Dyk officiating.  Interment will be in New Era Cemetery in the Spring.  Memorials to Love INC, 186 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455.
