Ivah Dzur Gifford Memmott Obituary

Ivah (Dzur Gifford) Memmott, age 86, of Grand Haven and formerly of Rothbury, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Spring Lake.  She was  born August 1, 1932 in Benona Township to Ernest and Emilie (Riebe) Dzur.  

Ivah was raised in Benona.  She married James Memmott on October 3, 1987.  He passed away November 14, 2007.  She was employed for many years at Howmet Corporation before her retirement.  Mrs. Memmott was a member of Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.  She moved to Rothbury upon her marriage to Jim and moved to Grand Haven in 2008.  

She is survived by her children, Rick (Janet) Gifford of New Era, Ralph (Sandra) Gifford of Coldspring, Texas and Connie (George) Tilton of Grand Haven; her grandchildren, Dawn (Denny) Hammersly of Montague, Kristy Gifford of New Era, Mitchel (Angel) Zaverl of Ravenna, Marcie (Aaron Smith) Ross of Roswell, Georgia and Michael Gifford of Coldspring, Texas; great-grandchildren, Ashley Amdunsen and Andrew, Kelsey and Thomas Hammersly all of Montague, Megan Jahnke and Natalie Jahnke both of New Era, and Logan, Kiera and Hailey Zaverl all of Ravenna; nieces and nephews; and stepchildren, James (Luanne) Memmott of Melbourne, Florida,  Kathy (Rich) Wright of Otsego, John (Dena) Memmott of Grand Haven, Christine (Bob) Peterson of New Era, Bob (Mary) Memmott of Delton and Eileen (Eric) Ross of New Era and families.  

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Larry in 1994, her brother Gerhard "Bud" Dzur and sister, Florence Hogston.

Visitation is  Wednesday, April 3rd, 2-4 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby and Thursday, April 4th, 1-2 pm at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ.  The funeral service will follow at 2 pm Thursday at the church  with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating.  Interment will be in Benona Township Cemetery.  Memorials to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Avenue SE, Ada, MI 49301 or the Alzheimers Association, 564 S. Main Street, Suite 200, Ann Arbor, MI  48104  are appreciated.
