Gerald L. "Jerry" Tennant, age 80, of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born March 31, 1938 in Muskegon to Chester and Alice (Almquist) Tennant. Jerry graduated from Hart High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served until 1962.
Jerry was employed for many years as a field service engineer for Combustion Engineering Company (now part of General Electric). He installed boiler units in India, Korea and the south eastern and western United States. He loved his church (Shelby Wesleyan). Jerry enjoyed making and racing radio-controlled cars and boats and also flew radio-controlled airplanes. He also loved to drive on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Julie (Chris) French; his son, Travis (Danielle) Tennant; his grandchildren, Zachary and Kayanna French; brothers, Art (Nadine) Tennant and Phil (Diane) Tennant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is Friday, July 20th, beginning at 1 pm at Shelby Wesleyan Church. The funeral service will follow Friday at 2 pm at the church with Pastor Todd Deuling officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials for family expenses are appreciated. You may donate through gofundme.com and search for Gerald Tennant.
