Gary Cox Obituary


Gary L. Cox, age 63, of Pentwater, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 following an extended illness.  Gary was born March 16, 1955 in Inkster, Michigan, the son of Jay and Gladys (Bassett) Cox.  He was raised in Inkster.  He attended Schoolcraft College and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.  

He married Terri Timko on December 27, 1980.   Gary was employed at Ford Motor Company for thirty years.  His career with Ford started at the Wayne Assembly Plant and he retired as an engineering manager.  He received his Masters in Engineering from the University of Michigan while working at Ford.  He also had a foreign service assignment with Ford for nearly four years in Brazil.  He was a member of IEEE.   

The Cox's lived in Novi for many years.  They moved to Pentwater in 2015 after Gary's retirement.  Gary enjoyed traveling, playing horseshoes and golf.  

He is survived by his wife, Terri; daughter, Megan Cox (and fiancé, Christian Gonzales); sisters, Carol (Hank) Bonga of Breezy Point, Minnesota, Kathleen (Lyle) Marrs of Ypsilanti and Loretta Cox of River Rouge; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Cox.

Visitation  will be held Monday, May 21st, 1 pm with the memorial service to follow at 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home.  Memorials for family expenses are appreciated.
