Frieda A Tanner

Frieda A Tanner, age 88,  of Shelby, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born July 21, 1929 in Ferry Township, the daughter of Fred and Mary Jane (Routley) Fessenden.

Frieda married LeRoy Tanner on September 23, 1947.  He passed away October 5, 2010.  She was raised in Ferry and lived in Oceana County all of her life.  Frieda loved giving hugs to everyone whether it be her children and grandchildren,  or when serving as the unofficial hostess at the Pizza Depot.  She loved to cook for her family who were the center of her life.  

Mrs. Tanner is survived by her children, Dave (Sharron) Tanner, Dan (Linda) Tanner, Sandy (Tim) Riggs, Sally (Randy) Phillips, Carrie Tanner, Lee (Sharon) Tanner, Becky (Gary) Buchner,  and Fred (Debbie) Tanner; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Barb Fessenden.  Besides, her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughters, Holly Tanner and Lindsey Buchner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell (Opal) Fessenden, Ivan (Betty) Fessenden, George (Irene) Fessenden, Kenny (Dorothy) Fessenden, and Claire Fessenden; and sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis (Bob) Putney.  

Visitation is Tuesday, September 5th,  5 - 8 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 6th, 1 pm at Shelby Road Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Baker officiating.  Entombment will be in New Era Cemetery's mausoleum.  Memorials may be directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 110 Elm Street, Suite D, Big Rapids, MI 49307.
