Eugene M. "Gene" Babinec, age 62, of Shelby, passed on to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Shelby. He was born January 22, 1956 in Shelby to George and Marjorie (Frees) Babinec.
Gene was a 1974 graduate of Shelby High School and lived most of his life in Shelby. He owned and operated Shelby Logging Supplies for the past twenty years or so. Prior to that, Gene worked with his father at Shelby Sawmill.
Gene loved his daughter Anna, serving in his church, the prison ministry in Muskegon, and the woods. He enjoyed snowmobiling in years past, and always enjoyed chatting with his customers at the logging supply. He was a member of Shiloh Tabernacle in Muskegon.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Anna Babinec and her fiancé, Robert Green-Warren; his sister and brother-in-law, Sally Babinec-Busscher and Michael Busscher; his nieces, Elizabeth, Michelle and Christine Busscher; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 28th from 4-6 pm at Harris Funeral Home. The funeral service for Gene will be held Sunday morning, April 29th, 10:30 am at Shiloh Tabernacle, 460 E. Tyler Road, Muskegon (take the Russell Road Exit off US 31) with Pastor Verne Wright officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials to Love, INC of Oceana County, 186 N.
