Eleanor J. Fogg

Eleanor J. Fogg, age 96, of Hesperia, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Fremont.  She was born June 3, 1921 in Hesperia to Walter and Lottie (Spoon) Johnson.  

Eleanor was raised north of Hesperia.  She married Forrest Fogg on May 25, 1940 and lived in Ferry Township all her married life.  Eleanor was a member of Ferry United Methodist Church.  She helped on the family farm and drove bus  many years for Ferry School.  Forrest passed away on August 18, 1993.  Eleanor moved into Hesperia in 2003.  

She is survived by her children, Carole Balkema, Don Fogg and Kathy (Gary) Eichenberg; her grandchildren, Rick Balkema, Jeff (Kristin) Balkema, Tricia (Doug) Heaven, Tanya (Chris) Figueroa and Bob (Angel) Eichenberg; ten great-grandchildren;  brothers, Carl (Florence) Johnson and Murray Johnson; sister, Patricia Strayer; sister-in-law, Elaine Johnson; and nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fogg; son-in-law, Richard Balkema;  her brothers, Walter "Jack" Johnson and Bernard Johnson; brother-in-law, Don Strayer; and sisters-in-law, Jean Johnson and Margaret Johnson.

Visitation is Monday, December 4th, 4-7 pm and the funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 5th, 11 am at Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Hane officiating.  Interment will be in Otto Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Ferry United Methodist Church, 2215 E. Main Street, Shelby, MI  49455.
