Edward Lawrence Woodworth, age 84, passed away at his home on April 4, 2019. He was born at home on the homestead farm to Guy and Elizabeth (Johnson) Woodworth. He was known to his family and friends as "Larry". Larry lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from Walkerville School.
Larry began working at Gerber Products at the age of eighteen. He was employed at Gerber for eighteen years and also had dairy cattle. He left Gerber to become a full-time farmer. He switched from dairy farming to raising beef cattle and growing many crops including asparagus, pickles, carrots, green beans, corn and hay. He enjoyed his farming greatly.
Larry served on the Oceana Farm Bureau Board and the Walkerville School Board. He married Linda (VanBrocklin) Monroe on October 3, 1992. He was a member of the Walkerville United Methodist Church. He retired and sold the farm and moved to the Village of Walkerville on November 3, 2008.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Linda; his children, Celinda "Cindy" (Steve) Figgins of Walkerville, Cheryl (and her friend, Dale) Tomasiewicz of Branch, Jassamine (Derrick) Lound of Hesperia, and Brian Woodworth of Walkerville; stepchildren, William Monroe of Walkerville, Ronnie (Shannon) Monroe, Jr. of Hesperia, and Sheri (Wayne) Boes of Bitely; his brother, Everett Woodworth of Fountain; and sisters, Elnora Jacobs of Bear Lake and Catherine (John) Keniston of Grant; twenty grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Elizabeth; son, Edward Woodworth, Jr.; granddaughter, Katie Jo Woodworth; grandson, Anthony Bonney; brothers-in-law, Ken Jacobs and LaVaughn VanBrocklin; sister-in-law, Betty (Plumb) Woodworth; father-in-law, Jon VanBrocklin; nephew, Eddie Carr; niece, Amanda VanBrocklin; and son-in-law, Sidney "Zig" Tomasiewicz.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 10th, 4-7 pm at Harris Funeral Home and Thursday, April 11th, 12 Noon to 1 pm at Walkerville United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held Thursday, 1 pm at the church with Pastor David Pratt officiating. Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery.
