Donald E. Burmeister

Donald E. Burmeister, age 78, of Claybanks Township, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Shelby.  Don was born March 11, 1940, the son of David and Dagna (Hetland) Burmeister.  He was a lifelong resident of Oceana County and was self-employed, operating Don Burmeister Trucking.  He married Margaret "Peg" Strait on April 15, 1961.  She passed away in 2010.

Don is survived by his son, Larry (Louise) Burmeister; grandsons, Wayne (Amanda) Burmeister, David (April) Burmeister, and Craig Burmeister (and Shawn); great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Mecayden, Atticus and Kierra Burmeister; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald E. Burmeister, Jr. in 1997, his parents and his siblings, John, Robert "Jim", Gordon "Buster", Richard "Dick" and David "Jack" Burmeister, Dorothy Hittle, LaVon Hansen and his infant sister, Grace.

Visitation is Friday, December 7th, 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 8th, 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Bob Abbott officiating.  Interment will be in Ferry Township Cemetery. Please consider the Johnson Family Cancer Center, 1440 E. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI  49444 as a memorial.
