Desmer G. Walch

August 31, 1929 ~ December 1, 2018 (age 89)


Desmer Gerald Walch (Des), age 89, of Hesperia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 1, 2018.  He was born to William and Dorothy (Bush) Walch on August 31, 1929 in Remus.  He owned and operated Walch's Packing in Big Rapids until it closed in the 1960's.  He then managed and worked in various meat processing companies.  He purchased a farm near Hesperia in 1968 for the purpose of dairy farming.  He owned and operated Sun Valley Dairy Farms until his retirement.

Des will be greatly missed by his loving wife, April (Kludy Kiggins) whom he was with for many years.  Together they loved to ride around taking in different sights which would end with getting ice cream cones to enjoy.  He always included their dog, Pup in these ice cream trips.

He is survived by his children. Desmer Jr. (Colleen) Walch, Kimberly (Pat) Brown, Patty (Don) Krmpotich, Sherry (Larry) Coleman, Tamara (John) Kinsella, William (Honnie) Walch, Penny (Kevin) Dummer, Gina (James) Smoger and his children's mother, Leona (Aimes) Walch.  He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren; two step granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended Kludy family members on his wife's side.

Besides his parents, Des was preceded in death by his son, Richard Walch; stepson, Roy Kiggins; brother, Charlie Walch; and sister, Pearl Hilliard. 

It is Des's request that his body be cremated and laid to rest by his son, Richard.  There will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 900 Cooper Street, Jackson, MI  49202 or a charity of your choice.
