Brian K. Reames, age 54 of Fruitport, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in Muskegon following a long, hard, eight year battle with cancer. He was born April 29, 1964 in Shelby, the son of Calvin "Cabbie" Reames and Doris (Mauk) Reames. Brian graduated from Shelby High School in 1982. He lived in Virginia for a brief time after high school before returning to this area to live in Muskegon. He was employed at Johnson Technologies (GE Aviation) for twenty-seven years.
Brian enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, camping, boating and deer hunting. He was a fan of NASCAR and an even bigger fan of Dale Earnhardt and mourned his passing. Brian also enjoyed watching baseball and football.
He is survived by his daughter, Madison Reames; his parents, Calvin and Doris; his sister, Cheryl Blohm; nephews, Eric (Trisha) Allen, Gregory (Rachel) Allen, Chad (Breanne) Blohm and Tyler (Karissa) Blohm; great-nieces and nephews, Nathan Allen, Grace Allen, Gavin Daugherty, Callie Blohm and Kinsley Blohm; and special friends, John and Tammy Clark and Wayne and Michelle Munroe. Brian was preceded in death by his infant son, Caleb, and his sister, Linda Allen.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 17th, 3 pm at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ. The memorial service will follow Friday, 4 pm at the church with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby.
