Betty Jean (Gleason) Geldersma

Betty Jean Geldersma, age 68, of Crossville, Tennessee and formerly of  Hesperia and Grand Haven,  passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Crossville.  She was born February 21, 1949 in Fremont, Michigan.

Betty Jean was a cosmetologist.  She attended the Peggy White School of Beauty and worked for Peggy White in her first job.  She was self-employed for many years. She married Gerald "Jerry" Geldersma II on October 11, 1991.  They lived in Crossville since 1996. 

Besides her husband, Betty is survived by her children, Dawn Schnabel, Edwin (Laurie) Hofmann Jr., Christopher (Heather) Clark, Heidi Potter and Brandi Geldersma; her mother, Joyce Bayle; brothers, Clyde, Marvin and Carl (Linda) Gleason; stepsisters, Linda (Larry) Fessenden and Laurie (Jim) Locke; stepbrothers, Norman (Royetta) Bayle, Tim (Sandy) Bayle, Mike Bayle and Fay Bayle; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Gleason and brothers,  Melvin and Larry Gleason.

Visitation is Wednesday, January 3rd, 11 am at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ with the funeral service to follow at 12 Noon also at the church (note change in venue) with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating.  Interment will be in East Hesperia Cemetery in the spring.
