Berl William Krause, Jr.

Berl W. Krause, Jr., age 73, of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 3, 2017.  He was born August 25, 1944 in Muskegon, the son of Berl and Betty (Brunais) Krause, Sr.

Berl was a life long resident of Benona Township.  He was a 1962 graduate of Shelby High School.   He married Cheryl Kroll on November 1, 1963.  Berl and his sons owned and operated Krause Welding, Inc. He started the business thirty-seven years ago.  He also raised feeder cattle.  

Berl was a hard worker who never stopped doing things.  He was a man of many talents who built his entire house including drilling his own well.  He enjoyed helping people and loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.  He and Cheryl also took in several foster children over the years. 

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his children, Brenda Krause, David (Laura) Krause and Brian Krause; grandson, Calvin Krause; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson; great-granddaughter, Alice Krause; his mother, Betty Krause; brothers, Dale (Estella) Krause and Ted Krause; and his sisters, Ruth Ann (Robert) Simmons, Linda Robles, Jeanne (Steven) Simmons, Virginia Boersen and Julie Williams.  Berl was preceded in death by his father, Berl Krause, Sr. and his sister, Fern Smith.

Visitation is Saturday,  September 9th, 1 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Paulette Zoulek officiating.  You may leave a message for the family at www.harrisfhcares.com.
