Allen Wade

Allen Wade, age 78, of New Era, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at home.  He was born November 13, 1938 in Grandville, Michigan to Albert and Lena (Schouten) Wade.  Allen was raised in Grandville and graduated from Grandville High School.   Allen worked in the gypsum mines in Grand Rapids as a young man.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1967.  He was employed for many years as a supervisor at Western American Mailers before his retirement.

Allen was married to Shirley (Kindig).  She passed away on July 2, 2006.  He purchased property at Stony Lake and moved there permanently in 2002.  Allen was a very avid fisherman.  His annual fishing trips to Canada were always a highlight.  He also enjoyed the woods on his property.  

He is survived by his nieces, Sheila (Joel) Mikkelsen and Barbara Wade (and her husband, Bob Thayer); great-nephew, Alan Mikkelsen; cousins, Trudie Turnquist, Dale Carlberg, Tunis (Peg) Schouten and John (Marcella) Wade; and his cat, Meeko.  Besides his wife, Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Madalen Wade.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23rd, 2 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church on Stony Lake Road west of New Era with Pastor Steve Samuelson officiating.  Memorials to Hospice of Michigan or Maxine's Closet are appreciated.
