John E. Plummer

John E. Plummer, age 91, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017in Shelby.  He was born February 13, 1926 in Shelby, the son of Joy and Estella (Andrews) Plummer. John married Nancy Joslin on June 10, 1950.  He was a life resident of Shelby and was a fruit farmer before retirement.  He was a World War II era Army Air Corp veteran. 

John enjoyed trips to the casino and watching the Detroit Tigers on television.  His favorite pastime was driving his mule on the farm.  His biggest wish was to live through cherry season this year which ended just last Saturday. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Vicki (Fred) Wenk, Brad  Plummer, and Karen (Greg) Schultz, all of Shelby; ten grandchildren and  twenty-one great-grandchildren.  John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leo Plummer; and his sisters, Gladys Kirk and Marjorie Babinec.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 25th, 7 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby with Pastor Robert McNeil officiating.
